Photos from Cedar Point

Last day of our trip

I loved this whole trip. I took plenty of photos and they all turned out great. I loved every single day because we were always doing something, and it was always something new. I really enjoyed the two days at Niagara Falls, but I also enjoyed the day in Cleveland and then Cedar Point. I'm not a fan of rollercoasters at all, so I didn't ride any, but I rode a few rides like the Power Tower and the tall Swings. Later, I went on two of the water rides with Michelle & Josie and we all got soaked. I think the water rides were my favorite part because I had a lot of fun and it was better than going on the other rides that, even though I liked, I got really motion sick on. - Ryan (11th grade)
____________

My favorite parts of the trip were the mall, the bowling alley, swimming, and the cruise. At the cruise, it was really fun because near the end we went downstairs to the 2nd floor and had a dance party. There were people we didn't even know jumping in. I also really liked swimming, because I'm on the swim team and it kinda helped me get ready to join practice because i missed the start of it during the trip. I'm glad I was able to be a part of this trip because usually I have to miss it due to band camp. - Tayler (12th grade)
____________

I enjoyed going onto the Nautica Queen cruise ship yesterday. The music they played on the ship was great. We got to dance and sing along; it was really cool. The view of the water and city was breath taking.

The trip was, overall, amazing. I'm so glad to be a part of upward bound and lucky to have a bright future because of it. So, I want to thank all of the staff  - such as Ms. M and Ms. J. I would also like to thank the funders of upward bound --- it's much appreciated. I also wanted to thank Brian, our bus driver, he was a cool dude and I would gladly have him as our bus drive for all of our trips! A final thank you for the r.a.'s who helped - and to those who don't know much about us, but still show our group support, you are also appreciated. - Destin (10th grade)

On the last day of our stay in Buffalo, New York, we did fun things like go to the zoo,

visit the military park, go eat at the original Buffalo Wings, and watched the pretty/funny musical at a theater 🎭. The Musical was my favorite. It taught me that everyone is beautiful in their own way, and you should not change yourself for anyone no matter what.

The Federal bank was nice, they have a fake money tree inside. I didn’t really learn much though. The campus tour didn’t interest me either. The Museum was pretty cool. There was a little area where you stood on a circle and could feel an earthquake. The best thing the was the planetarium. It showed our Milky Way and different stars in It. The Nautica Queen dinner cruise made me feel sick the first half, but after I ate, I felt better. We danced the Cha Cha slide, Cupid shuffle, and the wobble. I enjoyed myself. We did more dancing down on the dance floor inside. Now we are on our way to to Cedar point, which I hope will help me finish my study guide. And I hope to enjoy myself as well. - Damara (11th grade)

Wednesday and Thursday were great days! On Wednesday, we went to a Navy Park. It was a really cool experience since we got to get on battle ships and submarines. We got to go inside them. It was great! Then we ate lunch at the original Buffalo Wings!! I tried the Suicide wings and seeing others try them was hilarious. Then we headed to a musical and it had a great message to it. We got to interact with the actors and got a picture with them too.

Thursday we left Buffalo and headed to Cleveland, Ohio. When we got there, we went to the federal bank and went into the museum. Later, we went to eat lunch at Case Western University. We then toured the campus and it is a very nice university. I am considering doing my med school there, as Cleveland Clinic is the 2nd best hospital in the country. Then we went to a historical museum and the planetarium. It was amazing. After that we headed to the Náutica Cruise for dinner. It was a great night filled with laughter, dance, bonding, singing, photoshoots, a BEAUTIFUL view of the city, etc. It was beautiful. We were on the lake ,when the Cleveland Browns kicked off the pre season against the New Orleans, Saints. We finally checked in to the hotel. My friends and I went to the gym and then headed to sleep after a long exhausting day of walking. Today, we are headed to Cedar Point and we are all very excited to have a blast. It was a great Senior Trip. - Erika (12th grade)

Cedar Point

On Friday, we went to Cedar Point! I was put on penalty for 5 minutes because I accidently was out past curfew (I didn’t mean to), but that was the worst part about it, even though it wasn’t that bad. So, we had a buddy system for Cedar Point, you couldn’t be found walking alone or you'll get in trouble. At first, I was supposed to team up with Barsha, but then she was scared of rollercoasters, and those were the ones I mainly wanted to ride. So, I decided to group with Asmita and Pershana.

Just when we were gonna leave for the rides, we invited Megan to join us, that was the best decision of our lives because Megan has been there before and knew which rides to ride first and what not. We wanted to do the GateKeeper first, but the lines were really long! So, we decided to do the Wicked Twister. I could tell already that the ride was gonna be scary. I was already shaking and we hadn't even got on the ride yet! When we got on the ride I was really scared, I was having second thoughts, but it was too late, I was already strapped in and the ride was going to start. I’m not even going to front, the ride was SCARY! I was shaking when I got off, and my throat was already hurting from screaming so much, and it was only the first ride! But at the same time, it was an amazing ride, I was amazed about the fact that I actually rode it and was still alive. We got on many rides after that and I was left with a better feeling every time.

Overall, the whole Cedar Point trip was fun! I can't believe Upward Bound is over until next year. I’m looking forward to it. I had the best summer ever this year and learned a lot! And I plan on taking my family to Cedar Point now to show them what fear really is.  - Isha (10th grade)
_______

Today at cedar point I learned a lot of cool things. I learned that there were rides higher than 200ft. Which is kinda of scary, but also cool at the same time. I also learned that if a carousel goes too fast, people could fall out because of physics. I also got a chance to learn that the back of a roller coaster actually goes faster then the front because it is getting pulled. Even though I wasn't to excited for Friday, I really did enjoy it. - Savannah (10th grade)
_______

Today was the last day of the trip we got to go to cedar point. My favorite part of the day was getting to ride the roller coasters and getting to enjoy the day with friends. The only thing I didn't like in the park was a ride called air max because it felt like I was going to fall, but from there and on everything and everyday of the trip was fun. Thank you upward bound 😊. - Arianna (10th grade)

_________

Today was our last day and we went to cedar point. While there, we went on a bunch of rides. My buddy was Olivia P-S, and it was awesome! We ate some really good chili, cheese, bacon fries. Later we went and got ice cream and we got the new themed flavor of the ride VALRAVIN. After that we actually went on the ride. I was able to convince Olivia to sit in the very front. The rest of the day, we went on a few other rides and then started to go home. - Brittney (11th grade)
_________

Today, I went to Cedar Point and had a lot of fun with Brittney. We went on many different rides. Like the Raptor and ValRaven. And smaller things like the Carousel and Gemini. We had ValRaven flavored ice cream, and got a free pass for refillable drinks by a nice couple we rode a roller coaster with. The best part is I got over my fear. So overall today was a great day. - Olivia P-S (11th grade)

_________
Today we went to cedar point and i was with Izzy, Marmar, Momo, Chris, Moni and Destin - we waz lit. I went on this one blue rollercoaster,  it was crazy how high they was dropping us 💯 ! It was like it just 78ft, like dude no. I almost died 😂 i saw all 16 years of my life flash before my eyes, but i lived to tell my tale. -Darielle (11th grade)
_________
Today we went to Cedar Point - it was really fun. Besides my feet hurting, my favorite ride was (I think it's called) the max air. it would rock back and forth really fast and when we were up in the air, it's like everybody looked like ants. I was scared. I kept screaming momma and Kiyla thought it was funny. It's like it took my soul and I came back again it was crazy. When I got off I was wobbling like crazy, I'm never listening to Kiyla again, when she asks to get on another ride. Now, I have been dizzy all day ever since that ride. I didn't get on another one, but this day was really fun. The highlight of the day was the food; it was banging, but it was expensive. - Amara (10th grade)

Photos from our Dinner Cruise

Day 4: Cleveland, Ohio

My favorite part of the morning was going to Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. We got to see what types of colleges they have and learn more about each college. My favorite place to meet was their library and churches. Their library was 3 floors; and on the first floor you could borrow or rent a computer. The second and 3 floors were quiet floors. We also got to see their dorms. Tonight, we headed out to eat on a boat. We all enjoyed the food and people got to dance and sing. - Arianna (grade 10)

____________

Today we began the day by packing up all our stuff and moving it from the hotel to the bus. We went to the Federal Reserve Bank located in Cleveland, Ohio. Then we went to lunch on Case Western University. The food was good. We went on a tour of the college campus and learned about the life of a college student on their campus. We the stopped really quick at a hospital, we went to the roof and looked down at the lovely city of Cleveland. It was an amazing view. The very last thing we did was go on the Nautica Queen Cruise for dinner. The food was good and watching the sunset on the top floor of the boat was one of the best things ever. My friends and I danced the night away and had a great time. – Natajsia (grade 10)
____________

The highlight of this trip for me was the cruise dinner. I had so much fun on it. We had amazing food, I got over my sea sickness a little bit, and we danced. I even made some new friends that night. Thursday night had to be one of best nights during the entire trip for me. - Makyla (grade 10)
____________

We left Buffalo to go to Cleveland. Then, we went to the bank (U.S. Mint), and then we went to lunch. After lunch, we went on a tour of the Case Western University and its campus. After the tour, we went to the museum and planetarium were we looked at things that were in space. After the planetarium we went to a tour of the Cleveland Clinic and got to go look off their rooftop. Finally, we went to go get dinner on the Nautica Queen dinner cruise.

My favorite part of the day was the dinner cruise because besides the headaches and sea sickness, we all had a really good time and got to see a lot of pretty views. Also, we took lots of pictures and we were singing and dancing after we were done eating. When we first got on the dinner cruise, there were a lot of adults already on and they were looking at us like we were going to be obnoxious, but after we were on it for a while, a lot of people were surprised because we were actually really quiet and a couple people actually told us how well behaved we were. The whole day was really fun, but i enjoyed the Nautica Queen dinner cruise the most and would definitely go on it again if I ever got the chance to. - Mariah (11th grade)

____________

We went to went to this really cool bank (U.S. Mint) and I learned a lot about currency and the different types of currency from throughout the years. Then we went to this University and we took a tour of the university. After that, we went this museum that showed us these really cool consolations, we then talked about a eclipse that's going to be happening soon. Honestly, I had a lot of fun and we did a lot of walking. - Christopher (11th grade)
___________
Today was very cool. In the morning, we went to the Money Museum, and then later we went to a university campus and looked around. Our tour guide was a current undergrad there, so she was telling us all the cool things the school had to offer. My favorite part of the tour was probably the library, as it was 3 floors, and as you go up you have to be quieter. Also, they had laptops and tablets you could rent out as well and rooms for when you have group projects.

Also, today we went on a dinner cruise, that was sooo fun. At first I was a little motion sick ,then once I went to the observation deck, I felt much better. Towards the end of the cruise, we went to the second level that has the dance floor, and I had a blast dancing to oldies and newer songs. - Taylyn (11th grade)

____________
We went to a lot of places, but the place that stood out to me was the cruise on the Nautica. I think this stood out because we were able to get along and be who we are. We were dancing like no one was watching, and getting along really well with no drama. I'm glad I got to spend not only the cruise but these last two weeks with the upward bound student and staff. This is why I really loved the cruise and would recommend and academics group to go. - Jadas (10th grade)

___________

Thursday, today i went to 2 different museums and it was pretty good. I liked the natural museum the most, because they had a planetarium and I was able to look at the night sky without the pollution in the air. It was a really great show. They showed us what the sky could look like at night and it could be something really nice. At the end of this day, we went to a cruise boat to eat. They had good food but not the best food. What I liked about it though, is you were able to go to the top and look at the city and the water. Which had a really nice view. Today, was a really fun day and can't wait for the last day. - Brian (11th grade)
___________
On Thursday we went to the Western Case University which are Spartans too, just like MSU. We had a tour around campus and ate at their cafeteria. The food was okay, but not very good service. The campus was amazing and I would consider looking into it. The next thing we did was go to the museum and plantation, it was good exhibit. For dinner, we went on a very extravagant boat with a buffet of food and an amazing view of the sun setting on Lake Erie. - Olivia W-B (11th grade)
___________
Today we had to rise early from bed. I was so tired, I slept most of the way there. It took us three hours to arrive to our destination. We went to a small museum in a bank. I watched a video about money and that people used to carry around big stones and used that as cash. I find that so weird, the stones seemed really heavy to be carrying around with them. They also had a money tree, which I found funny because money doesn't really grow on trees. I got to take a picture with the dollar bill.

After that, we went to a college tour. I liked the college; their library was amazing. They let you borrow mac laptops and any type of thing, you even got a personal librarian! We were at sea on a boat eating dinner. I was scared I would get sea sick, but I think I would have noticed that when we got on the Maid of the Mist. I liked the tilapia and the pasta the most. I felt dizzy for a while, since the boat rocked. We got to go on the top roof of the boat to see the sunset. It was even prettier when it got darker. It was just such a great view. - Briana (12th grade)

________
This week has been pretty good. Some days better than others, but for the most part all good, Yesterday and today were really fun. We got to go to this really big mall, but sadly didn't really have enough time to hit all the stores I wanted to and then we went to buffalo wild wings (original one). That was nice but all the wings were pretty much hot to me but funny seeing people eat the super hot ones lol. Then we ended that night with a play. The play was good and funny and had a great message - oh and a little zoo stop. And then, as for today, we did do a lot of walking, but I fun doing a tour with most of my close friends. Then the best part was the cruise! That was soooo funnn! At first it was a little dead, I mean we still had fun and laughs and then we got some pretty good food and cheesecake and then ended the night at the top of the boat dancing and singing and just having a good ole time with everyone. Then cedar point in the morning! Sad to say it'll be our last day, especially since its my last year :( but its been a good three years and can't wait to come back in the fall! - Niya (12th grade)

____________
Had fun on the UB trip although it was lots of waking around. Today, we went on an tour to the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. My best part of the university was the library. Reason for that, is because the library had 3 floor levels the talking, no talking, and checking out books. Also, had lots of room for studying. This tour made it harder to choose an college I want to go to. I'm looking forward to having fun on the last day of UB summer program. - Kiyla (10th grade)

____________
The highlight of the trip for me was the cruising we did today at Cleveland. The boat ride on Lake Erie was amazing; the view of the lake Erie was stunning, especially the sunset. The dinner was surprisingly good, but I prefer the buffalo wild wings I had yesterday in my opinion. This was the highlight of my upward bound trip because I truly had fun. The other activities we did were also great, but I like this one the best. There was dancing, singing, and food. I really enjoyed watching my friends and upward bound staff having fun and everyone was happy at the end of the day. It was truly pleasant to dance with my friends and to see kind random strangers who decided to join us. The boat ride was a truly good way to end the night.  - Barsha (10th grade)

Today I went on the roof of a hospital, which was the best view of Cleveland, Ohio. The sky was shimmering with the light of the sun. You could see the water line faded into the background. I was really impressed and happy at what happened today. Thanks "upward bound". - Aquenah (10th grade)
